The Healthiest Ice Cream in Town!
Updated: Jun 5, 2019
Have you heard? July is National Ice Cream Month! Here in Kansas City, July days are long and hot, perfect for a cool, sweet treat at the end of the day. When you think of ice cream, chances are healthy doesn’t exactly pop in your head. Did you know that ice cream made with plant milk contains zero cholesterol and less saturated fat than cow’s milk ice cream?
Dietary cholesterol and saturated fat intake are correlated with increased risk of heart disease, the number one killer worldwide, so it is best to avoid these where possible. Trans fats, the worst type of saturated fat, have now been banned from the shelves of our markets. They are still present, and always will be naturally-occurring in cow’s milk products. These products are exempt from the ban.
Plant milk ice creams also have zero lactose! Lactose intolerance is not something to be minimized or masked with enzyme medications. Lactose intolerance is defined as: a clinical syndrome in which lactose ingestion causes symptoms (abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, diarrhea) due to lactose malabsorption.
What is the perfect milk for humans? Human breast milk. Once you’ve weaned, if you want to consume milk, plant milk is the healthiest by far.
The truth is, cow’s milk is one of the most common food allergens among humans. Reactions include digestive issues, food-induced asthma, and otitis media (ear infections), especially in children. The human digestive tract is not designed to consume and digest the milk of another mammal.
Plant milk ice creams are available free from all common allergens including cow’s milk, eggs, nuts, seeds, wheat, and soy.
